The Stadtwerke Baden-Baden are a municipal enterprise of the city of Baden-Baden for the supply of electricity, gas, heat and water. They also operate the Baden-Baden outdoor pools, the Bertholdbad as well as multi-storey car parks and public transport.

history

In 1845 a hard coal gas works with a daily output of 2,300 kWh was installed, this was replaced in 1871 by an own municipal gas works with 12,000  kWh . The production of own gas was stopped in 1965 by switching to long-distance gas .

The construction of the water supply took place from 1850 to 1903 by holding the springs. In 1915 a groundwater works was built near Sandweier .

In 1898 the municipal power station was inaugurated. In 1919, the Badenwerk began supplying electricity . After switching the energy supply to 110 kV in 1965, the substations were expanded several times.

In 1997, a wood chip heating plant was integrated into the district heating supply.

The Stadtwerke have been supplying Baden-Baden with electrical energy since 1898.

In addition to the Baden-Baden supply area, the municipalities of Iffezheim and Hügelsheim are also supplied with natural gas .

water

The drinking water supply comes from the Stadtwerke's own springs and wells.

warmth

The municipal utilities have two heating power plants of their own . Here, electricity and heat are generated using a process known as combined heat and power , which enables the utilization of over 80% of the energy from fossil fuels.
