Stanislaus Fernandes
Stanislaus Fernandes SJ (born October 8, 1939 in Ahmedabad , India ) is a Roman Catholic religious and retired Archbishop of Gandhinagar .
Life
Stanislaus Fernandes received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Ahmedabad on March 23, 1968 . He later joined the Jesuit Order and took vows on August 15, 1973 .
On May 21, 1990 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the Bishop of Ahmedabad . The Archbishop of Bombay , Simon Ignatius Cardinal Pimenta , donated him episcopal ordination on August 24th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Bishop Emeritus of Ahmedabad, Charles Gomes SJ, and Bishop of Baroda , Francis Leo Braganza SJ. On November 11, 2002, John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Gandhinagar . The inauguration took place on December 22nd of the same year.
Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on June 12, 2015.
