Stary Przybyslaw

Stary Przybysław (German name Pribslaff ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It belongs to the municipality (Gmina) Świdwin ( Schivelbein ) in the district of Schivelbein .

Geographical location

The anger village of Stary Przybysław with the former estate located in the middle of the Feldmark is two kilometers west of the district town of Świdwin on the road to Oparzno ( Wopersnow ). The train station is Świdwin on the Stargard Szczeciński – Gdańsk railway line .

Surname

The name comes from a bishop who named the place after his sub-prince Pribslaff von Belgard.

history

The goods Friedensburg (now in Polish: Miłobrzegi) and New Pribslaff (Nowy Przybysław) belonged to Pribslaff. The place was first mentioned in 1341 and was owned by the von Wedel family before 1378. In 1540 the place was exchanged for the Order of St. John and belonged to the Commandery Schivelbein.

In 1736 there were twelve farmers and one kossat and two free men in Pribslaff. In 1839 the community had 13 farmers and one kossaeteer and in 1858 there was one landlord and eleven farmers and 15 owners. The estate worked 96 hectares.

In 1939 there were 313 inhabitants in 80 households in Pribslaff. The community area was 911.9 hectares. Apart from an inn there was no business in the village. The vast majority of the community residents worked on site in agriculture.

Until 1932, Pribslaff belonged to the district of Schivelbein, before this became part of the district of Belgard (Persante) . Pribslaff was in the district and civil registry area Wopersnow (today: Oparzno) in the district court district Schivelbein. The last German mayor was Erich Müller.

On March 4, 1945, the place was occupied by Red Army troops. The fighting did not damage the village. In the following days, however, 16 citizens were killed by murder and other atrocities.

Pribslaff came under Polish administration and today belongs to Gmina Świdwin as Stary Przybysław and is now - as before 1932 - in the Powiat Świdwiński, Schivelbein district.

Parish

Pribslaff was before 1945 an independent parish, with the neighboring communities Grössin and Falkenberg formed parish Grössin. It was in the Schivelbein parish of the Protestant Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman was Pastor Martin Lüpke.

Today Stary Przybysław belongs to the parish Koszalin ( Köslin ) of the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Village church

The half-timbered church, which is closed on three sides, was built in 1723. The wood-clad tower over the west side had a curved dome that ended in a pointed roof. The church was demolished around 1970.

There was a one-class elementary school in Pribslaff.
