Remnants of the mill stream

The former iron hammer is located on the Flembach , which is dammed up here to form a pond. The Flembach operated the Staubershammer until around 1951, in 1973 it was demolished and rebuilt in the Mining and Industry Museum in East Bavaria . Today's use of the listed property is touristic.

history

The local rail and sheet metal hammer belonged to Michelfeld Monastery for many years . At times it belonged to the Streber family, because in 1402 the hammer (at that time it was still called Hammer Ziegelmühl ) was sold to Elsa Streberin zu Strebenstein, a citizen of Nuremberg ; her husband Hans Streber had received the nearby Steinamwasser Castle as a fief.

In 1561 the hammer property was acquired by Georg Stauber and since then the plant has been called Stauberahammer . In 1805 Johann Götz from Michelfeld bought the property for 10,100 florins . In the same year he sold it to Jakob von Sonnenburg. In 1805, the later mayor of Auerbach, Jakob Falkner von Sonnenburg, is the owner. On October 18, 1882, Johann Gummermann bought the Staubershammer for 6,500 marks. He continued to operate it as an iron hammer and also worked as a gold leaf beater . In 1892 he sold the property and followed his son Basilius with his wife Anna and five of his eleven children to America ( Milwaukee , † December 21, 1915). In 1892 the Schäff family acquired the Staubershammer. Axes, plowshares, etc. were mainly made in the hammer. The last owner of the property, Heinz Schäff, started the hammer mill again in 1963 to forge the tower cross for the Michelfelder monastery church. The property is still owned by the Schäff family.

The place is directly on the Erzweg themed hiking trail .
