Stefan Eggeler

Stefan Eggeler (born December 24, 1894 in Vienna ; † July 17, 1969 there ) was an Austrian artist and lawyer .

Life

As the son of a court official, Eggeler studied law at the University of Vienna and obtained a doctorate in law . He also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Ferdinand Schmutzer and Rudolf Bacher as well as at the Federal Higher Education and Research Institute with Ludwig Michalek .

Between 1915 and 1925 he made drawings, graphics and portfolios, woodcuts and etchings , many of which were published as book illustrations. He was a member of the Künstlerhaus Wien .

In 1925 Eggeler abruptly ended his artistic activity and became legal advisor to the municipality of Vienna . He was a representative of early Austrian fantasy .
