Stefan Pries (born May 13, 1982 in Elmshorn ) is a former German handball player who was a player- coach from 2013 to 2015 .

Career

Pries began playing handball at SV Rot-Weiß Kiebitzreihe in 1989 . After the backcourt player played for two years at MTV Heide , he joined SG Flensburg-Handewitt in 2000 . In the 2004/05 season he was a member of the Bundesliga team. From 2005 Pries went on the hunt for goals for the second division team TV Emsdetten . In 2007 Pries moved to league rivals Ahlener SG and two years later to SV Post Schwerin . Before the 2011/12 season Pries moved to the third division SV Henstedt-Ulzburg , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the season. After Henstedt-Ulzburg was relegated a year later, Pries joined the U23 team from SG Flensburg-Handewitt, where he worked as a player-coach in the 2013/14 season. In the 2014/15 season he only worked as a playing assistant coach for SG due to lack of time. Afterwards, Pries actually wanted to end his career, but decided shortly before the start of the 2015/16 season to continue his career at DHK Flensborg . In May 2016 he left the DHK Flensborg. From May 2017 until the end of the 2016/17 season he played for third division club HSG Nord HU . Then he ended his career. Since 2018 he has been training a youth team at SG Flensburg-Handewitt. Pries made his comeback in December 2018 in the third division team of SG Flensburg-Handewitt, for which he was active until the end of the 2018/19 season.

Private

His wife Bente plays handball for the second division TSV Nord Harrislee . His late father Roberto played five times for the German national handball team and played for Grambke Bremen and the Reinickendorfer Füchse for eight seasons in the handball Bundesliga. He is also related by marriage to the handball player Stefan Schröder .
