biography

Stefan Rauh was born in Bayreuth and attended the Regensburger Domspatzen music high school . During his high school he was a member of the Regensburg Cathedral Choir . During his studies ( Latin , philosophy and church music ) with Norbert Düchtel, Eberhard Kraus , Georg Ratzinger and Roland Büchner , he returned to the Regensburg Cathedral Choir as a choirmaster. His musical training was supplemented by a postgraduate course in choral conducting with Uwe Gronostay at the Berlin University of the Arts and master classes with Eric Ericson and Howard Arman .

Following his studies, Rauh was Uwe Gronostay's assistant at the Berlin Philharmonic Choir and other professional choirs. As the artistic director of various vocal ensembles , the " Rothenfelser Chorwochen ", as a lecturer in choral conducting courses at home and abroad and as the author of essays and reviews in specialist journals, he gained international fame.

Rauh has worked as a church musician in Berlin since 1990 , most recently from 1995 to 2010 at the Church of the Holy Family in Berlin-Lichterfelde ( Archdiocese of Berlin ). As a composer and editor he dedicates himself to works of choral and instrumental music . Stefan Rauh is director of the choir of the Johanneskirche Berlin-Schlachtensee and the Kammerchor Berlin .

In 2000, Stefan Rauh founded the “Berliner Chormusik Verlag” in Berlin . Originally, the publisher had specialized exclusively in the publication of choral music. In 2009, the range was expanded to include the “Edition Musica Rinata”, so that the spectrum of published works now also included compositions for organ and other instruments. The programs of both publishers, now under one roof, have been continuously expanded. In 2015, both parts of the publishing house were combined under the name "Sonat-Verlag". In 2018 the Sonat-Verlag became its own edition series of the Berlin music publisher Ries & Erler , in which Rauh has been head of the editing department since then.
