Stefan Wolf (born December 6, 1961 in West Berlin ) is a German lawyer and local politician ( SPD ). He was Lord Mayor of Weimar from 2006 to 2018 .

Wolf graduated from high school in West Berlin in 1982 and then completed an apprenticeship as a banker. From 1984 to 1992 he worked as a loan officer at Commerzbank in Berlin. He also studied law at the Free University of Berlin and passed the second state examination in 1992 after a legal clerkship . From 1992 to 2001 he worked as a judge and public prosecutor specializing in white-collar crime in Berlin.

Wolf has been a member of the SPD since 1982. Since 2001 he has been the mayor and deputy for economy, urban development and construction of the city of Weimar. In the mayor elections in May 2006, he prevailed in the runoff election with 58.3 percent of the vote and became mayor of the city of Weimar on July 1, 2006. In the Mayor elections in May 2012, Wolf was confirmed in the runoff election with 56.16 percent of the vote for a further six years. In the Mayor elections in April 2018, he lost 21.5% to Peter Kleine , who won the election with 60.3%. Wolf's term of office ended on June 30, 2018.
