Hans Wiedemann (politician)

Hans Wiedemann (born May 18, 1888 in Berlin , † October 16, 1959 in Weimar ) was a German politician ( CDU ). He was a member of the People's Chamber and Lord Mayor of Weimar.

Wiedemann, son of an official who attended the high school and studied philology at the Universities of Jena and Berlin, laid in 1913 the state exam and received his doctorate later Dr. phil. From 1916 to 1945 he worked as a teacher at the Humboldt School in Erfurt . In 1926 he became a member of the Academy of Charitable Sciences . In 1945 he became deputy director of the teacher training institute in Erfurt, from 1947 he was director of the Goethe School and the Lessing High School in Erfurt.

In 1946, Wiedemann joined the CDU. In 1951/1952 he was a member of the CDU state board of Thuringia, from 1952 a member of the CDU main board and from 1953 also a member of the presidium there.

From 1950 to 1952 he was a member of the Thuringian state parliament and from 1952 to 1954 a member of the Erfurt district parliament . From 1953 to 1959 he was Lord Mayor of Weimar and Chairman of the City Council . From 1954 to 1958 he was a member of the People's Chamber and a member of the Constitutional Committee, in 1958 he was a member of the Laender Chamber .

From 1954 he was a member of the Presidium of the National Council of the National Front and chairman of the Solidarity Committee for Korea and Vietnam at the National Council. From 1955 he was also a member of the Presidium of the German Peace Council and, from 1957, Vice-President of the German Association of Towns and Municipalities.
