Paul Ullmann (born July 28, 1921 in Hartenstein , Zwickau district , † 1996 ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and educator . He was Lord Mayor of Weimar in 1969/1970 .

Life

Ullmann, the son of a train driver , attended business school and completed a commercial apprenticeship between 1936 and 1939 . He was then a commercial assistant in Aue. On September 1, 1940, he became a member of the NSDAP local group Aue (Gau Sachsen).

After the Second World War , Soviet cultural officers recruited him as a new teacher in 1945 . From 1947 to 1951 he studied education, psychology and special education at the Pedagogical Faculty of the University of Leipzig . In 1951 he passed the first teacher examination and finished his studies as a certified psychologist. 1953 doctorate he in Leipzig for Dr. phil. From 1951 to 1969 he was deputy director or director of the special school “ Dr. Georg Sacke ”in Leipzig . In 1964 he completed his habilitation at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

Ullmann joined the CDU in 1946. From 1956 to 1969 he was a city ​​councilor in Leipzig, from 1962 a member of the CDU district committee in Leipzig and from 1963 also a member of the main committee of the GDR City and Municipal Council. For the CDU parliamentary group, Ullmann justified the demolition of the university church to Leipzig city councilors in May 1968 . From 1967 to 1971 he was a member of the CDU parliamentary group, a member of the People's Chamber and a member of the committee for citizens' submissions. From February 20, 1969 to April 15, 1970 he was Lord Mayor of Weimar. From March 1970 to March 1974 he acted as chairman of the CDU district council in Halle . From March 1972 (13th party congress) to October 1982 (15th party congress) he was a member of the main CDU board.

From 1974 he taught as a professor for rehabilitation education at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg .
