The Steinfurter Aa is an approximately 46 km long tributary of the Vechte in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany . The above-ground catchment area covers more than 204 km².

The source of the Steinfurter Aa is about 21 km west of Münster near Billerbeck - Beerlage at about 125 m altitude in the northern foothills of the Baumberge . From there it first flows a few kilometers to the east and then northwards. It flows past Steinfurt- Borghorst to the west, then crosses Steinfurt- Burgsteinfurt and a little later reaches Wettringen . In the municipality of Wettringen, the course of the river is already wide and obvious. Only about 5 km further north, in the Bilk farming community , the Steinfurter Aa flows into the Vechte, which is hardly the same size here, with a water flow of over 2.1 m³ / s .
