Stephanie Hildburg , actually Stephanie Marx (* 1862 in Graz , Austria ; † 1942 ), was an Austrian actress .

Life

Stephanie Hildburg was the daughter of the writer Friedrich Marx . Raised as a high daughter , she began to take part in small performances at private celebrations as a teenager. In 1886 she spent the summer in Tyrol with her family . She got to know the theater director Ignaz Czernitz and was able to audition a scene from Goethe's Egmont for him as “Clärchen” .

Czernitz was enthusiastic and immediately engaged Hildburg for a guest appearance. On December 14th of the same year she made her successful debut as "Jeanne d'Arc" at the Innsbruck Theater . Through Czernitz's mediation, Hildburg also received acting lessons from the court actress Louisabeth Röckel from this time on . From this time on she also used the pseudonym "Hildburg" and kept it for the rest of her life.

With effect from October 1, 1887, Hildburg officially became a member of the Innsbruck ensemble. In the summer of 1888 she got a contract at the Deutsches Theater in Brno and just a year later the Association of United City Theaters brought her to Hamburg . Between 1896 and 1897 she was seen at the German State Theater in Prague . From autumn 1897 she played at the royal court theater in Hanover and as a member of this ensemble she had a much-noticed guest appearance in Berlin ; on the occasion of the centenar celebration of Kaiser Wilhelm I , she performed in the royal theater .

After the First World War , Hildburg could no longer build on its previous successes and soon afterwards finally withdrew from the stage.
