Stephen Balmer (partly also Steven Balmer ; born January 23, 1991 in Dundonald , Northern Ireland , United Kingdom ) is a Northern Irish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Solway Sharks since 2015 . Internationally he plays for the Irish national ice hockey team .

Career

Stephen Balmer, who was born in Dundonald, Northern Ireland, began his career with the Dundalk Bulls in the Irish Ice Hockey League , with whom he became Irish Champion in 2008. In 2009 he moved to the Latvian Hawks in Dublin and won the Irish championship there again in 2010. After this success, he moved to the third-rate English National Ice Hockey League and played there one after the other for the Trafford Metros , the Streatham Redskins , the second team of the Cardiff Devils , the Wightlink Raiders , with whom he was playoff champions of the South Season in 2015, and since 2015 for the Solway Sharks . Only in spring 2014 did he play with the Slough Jets in the second-rate English Premier Ice Hockey League .

International

The British citizen Balmer played in the junior division for Ireland at the U18 World Cup 2009 in Division III.

With the men's selection from the Emerald Isle , he played at the World Championships in Division II in 2008 and 2011 as well as in the World Championships in Division III in 2009 , 2010 , 2012 and 2013 .
