Stephen Mirrione , ACE (born February 17, 1969 in Santa Clara County , California ) is an American film editor . Stephen Mirrione won an Oscar for editing the film Traffic - Power of the Cartel .

Life

Mirrione graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz with a BA in 1991. In Los Angeles, he began with Doug Liman work, which was still at the film school of the University of Southern California studied and cut Liman's first feature films Getting (1994) Swingers (1996) and Go (1999), the latter a tribute to Akira Kurosawa's film Rashomon from 1950.

The director Steven Soderbergh met Mirrione at the premiere of Go and asked him a year later if he wanted to cut the film Traffic . Mirrione won an Oscar for editing Traffic . Subsequently, Mirrione cut Soderbergh's films from the Ocean series ( Ocean's Eleven (2001), Ocean's 12 (2004) and Ocean's 13 (2007)).

Mirrione won the ACE Eddie Award in 2006 for editing Alejandro González Iñárritus' film Babel . He was also nominated for an Oscar for this film.
