Paul Traynor (born September 14, 1977 in Thunder Bay , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who last played for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Paul Traynor began his career in 1994 with the Kitchener Rangers in the Canadian Junior League OHL . After his first season was back in the NHL Entry Draft in 1995 in the seventh round at 162nd place of the Winnipeg Jets moved, but were no stakes in the National Hockey League .
For the 1997/98 season Traynor signed his first professional contract and played in North America until 2004 . His stations were the AHL teams Albany River Rats , Rochester Americans and Syracuse Crunch , the IHL participants Michigan K-Wings and Utah Grizzlies as well as the Raleigh IceCaps , South Carolina Stingrays , Charlotte Checkers and Trenton Titans from the East Coast Hockey League . It was there that Traynor earned a reputation as a solid and fair stay-at-home defender .
In the 2004/05 season , the defender moved to the Kölner Haie in the German Ice Hockey League , where he again took on the role of defensive defender. After two years in the cathedral city, the Canadian signed a contract for the 2006/07 season with the Iserlohn Roosters , where he was nicknamed "Hooligan" because of his physically tough playing style. In Iserlohn, Traynor's style of play was noticeably more offensive, so that in the end he was able to more than double his points. At the beginning of 2007, the crowd favorite extended his contract prematurely for two more years. In his second season in the Sauerland , the defender took on both defensive and offensive tasks and at the end of the season posted new career records with six goals and a total of 40 points. In the 2008/09 season he was appointed to Team Canada for the second time after 2006 for the Germany Cup and was able to win the tournament. With the Roosters he missed the playoffs in contrast to the previous year, but was the most dangerous Iserlohn defender with 11 goals scored. In addition, Traynor climbed to 5th place among the best submitters in the history of the roosters. For the 2009/10 season there was a change in the defense of the Sauerland, so that the Canadian signed a two-year contract with the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg . After his contract expired, Traynor was signed by the Nürnberg Ice Tigers for the 2011/12 season .
