Steve Brace

Steve Brace (also: Steven Brace ; born July 7, 1961 in Bridgend ) is a former British long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon .

In 1985 he became Welsh marathon champion. In 1988 he had his first successes in international races: He was twelfth in the London and sixth in the Chicago Marathon in 2:11:50 h. In 1989 he won the Paris Marathon , in 1990 he repeated this victory and came third in the New York City Marathon . The following year, a seventh place in London was followed by a triumph at the Berlin Marathon in 2:10:57. At the Olympic Games in Barcelona , he finished 27th.

In 1994 he won the Dublin Marathon , and in 1996 he set his personal best as runner-up in the Houston Marathon with 2:10:35. At the Olympic Games in Atlanta , he came in 60th place.

On the track, he was twice Welsh champion in the 5000 and 10,000 meters .

Steve Brace is 1.78 meters tall and weighed 68 kg at competition times. He started for the Bridgend Athletics Club and after his career was Director of Development at Welsh Athletics .
