Steve Morell

Steve Morell (born April 19, 1967 as Stephan Gerhard Kraus in Fulda ) is a German musician who also works as a model, actor, journalist, entrepreneur and publisher.

Musical career

Morell began his music career in 1984 as a DJ in Berlin and London, where he worked in the then scene clubs such as Trash, Blockshock, Ex & Pop, etc. a. as a DJ hung up. In blockshock he also organized the first parties and concert events. With his partner Atila Demirtas he ran the Berlin punk pub Pink Panther in Berlin-Kreuzberg from 1986 to 1989 . Until 1992 he lived in Germany's first occupied house, the Georg von Rauch House .

In 1999 he founded the music label Pale Music International , which he moved to Berlin in 2000 and which was first published in 2001. In 2003 he initiated the annual series of events Berlin Insane with the publication of the compilation of the same name (Berlin Insane I – IV) , in which he gave national and international underground artists the opportunity to present their music to a broader public.

In 2004 the DJ duo & producer team The Scandals was founded together with Emma Eclectic . A year later, Steve Morell opens the Pale Music Int. in London UK and founds the music publisher Edition Pale Music International together with the record companies Hardscore and Sony BMG Music Entertainment as partners. After the takeover of Sony BMG Music Entertainment by Universal Music , Morell ended the collaboration in 2008 and founded a new music publisher, Edition BLASS Music, in partnership with Mark Chung / Freibank Music Publishing , under which all new releases of his label Pale Music International are published. Morell has been expanding his label since January 2009 by running the company not only as a record company but also as a self-distributor. Morell has no children and currently lives in Berlin / Kreuzberg. In addition to his work as a musician, he also has a radio show on the radio station Reboot.fm .

activities

Artistically, the DJ duo and producer team The Scandals disbanded in 2007 after several releases, as both wanted to go their own way. From this point on, Morell worked with two different co-producers for remixes and original compositions. Morell worked with Sebastian Lee Phillip ( Noblesse Oblige ) from 2007 to 2008 , and Ragnar is the official co-producer of Steve Morell from 2008 to date . The producer team Morell / Ragnar produced u. a. Remixes and arrangements for the following artists: Martha & The Muffins (CAN), Warren Suicide (DE), The AntiQuark (USA), Kill The Dandies (CZ), Shed (FR), The Prostitutes (CZ), The Stylists (CZ) , Narcotic Fields (CZ), BugGirl (AUS), Glitter Klinik (SP), Mona Mur & En Esch (DE), Mamasweed (DE), Italoporno (CAN / DE), The Glass (USA), Hasselhoff (NL), The Neutrinos (UK), The Vanishing (USA). Morell also worked with Ragnar on his 2012 avant-garde solo album The Life and Death of Jimmy Pheres and His Rise From The Underworld , on which Morell performed with numerous international artists such as B. Sebastian Lee Phillip, N. U. Unruh , Ragnar, Monica Pokorná , Martin Craft , Luis Miguelez , Andi Sexgang and Hank J. Manchini worked. In January 2010 the advance single Loneliness was released , on which Alexander Hacke ( Einstürzende Neubauten ) produced the corresponding remix. In 2008 Morell began the musical collaboration with the Prague dance and performance artist Monica Pokorná, with whom he presented the duet Lady Pheres on the 2012 album. This duet was pre-released in May 2012 as a 12 "single.

Model career

In 2007 Morell signed a modeling contract with IZAIO Model Management Agency and got a role in the music video Flashing Lights by Kanye West , in which he was supposed to portray a 1930s piano player. After that he got skin cancer . After surviving seven operations in 2016, Morell received the request for Balenciaga Menswear to run the Fall-Winter-2017 Runway Show in Paris as a catwalk model in winter 2017 , which was immediately followed by the Balenciaga Spring-Summer 2018 Show in Paris in June 2018. The Guardian devoted a special article to him. Further engagements and photo series for Yang Li, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Christian DaDa, Marcelo Burlon County of Milan, Commun S, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tiger of Sweden, William Fan, UY Fashion, Monika Pokorna, etc. followed. a. Since 2017 he has been considered one of the hottest male German models in his age group. He worked u. a. with stylists like Lotta Volkova, Jo Barker, Toby Grimditch, Götz Offergeld & Sina Braetz, Alessia Ansalone, Erik Raynal, photographers like Gavin Evans, Johnny Dufort, Billy & Heels, Robi Rodriguez, Biel Moreno, Thomas Hauser, Rob Kulisek, Alex Mader , Mikael Gregorsky, Alvin Booth, Dan Giuliani, Christoph Voy, Robert Carrithers, Miron Zownir, Peter Funch, Florian Kolmer, Valquire Veljkovic, Boris Eledagsen, Bilbo Galvez and the make-up artist Inge Grognard. His work as a model has been published in magazines such as Vogue, Replica, Re-Edition, Dapper Dan, Man About Town, Ansinth, King Kong Magazine, TIP Magazine Berlin, Nicotine Magazine, SZ-Magazin, L'officiel Hommes Germany, Numero, Numero Homme Berlin, Maxim Fashion, Spex etc. published. Morell also works as an actor.
