Steve Silverthorn (born February 7, 1981 in Owen Sound , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with the Dresdner Eislöwen in the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey . His brother Jason is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Steve Silverthorn began his career as an ice hockey player in the Colgate University team , for which he was active from 2001 to 2005. Then the goalkeeper received a professional contract with the Idaho Steelheads from the ECHL , for which he stood between the posts in the following three seasons as well as for their cooperation partner Iowa Stars from the American Hockey League .

For the 2008/09 season , Silverthorn moved to EC Bad Tölz in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga , which he left after the season after its bankruptcy to play for their league rivals SERC Wild Wings . The Canadian was also voted best goalkeeper in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2008/09 season by the specialist magazine Eishockey News . In Schwenningen in 2009 he met Daniel Hacker , with whom he had already played with the Idaho Steelheads and the Iowa Stars.

In July 2011 Silverthorn was committed by the Texas Brahmas from the Central Hockey League , for which he completed 25 CHL games. After Kellen Briggs was injured in mid-January 2012 , the management of the Dresdner Eislöwen signed Silverthorn until the end of the season.
