Steven Solomon (born May 16, 1993 ) is an Australian sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Steven Solomon gained his first international experience at the 2010 Youth Oceania Championships in Sydney , where he won the gold medal with the Australian 4 x 400 meter relay. With the relay he also took part in the Junior World Championships in Moncton , but was eliminated there in the preliminary round. A year later he was part of the Australian season for the World Championships in Daegu , where they were eliminated with 3: 01.56 min in advance. 2012 Solomon again took part in the Junior World Championships in Barcelona and won the bronze medal over 400 meters in 45.52 s. With the Australian season he finished fourth in the final. He also qualified for participation in the Olympic Games in London , where he in the individual event with 45.14 s in the final finished eighth. With the Australian season he was eliminated with 3: 03.17 min in the first round .

In 2013 he took part in the relay at the World Championships in Moscow , where he finished seventh in the final with 3: 02.26 min. 2014 he took over 400 meters at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland Glasgow in part and was able to not finish his semifinal race. Three years later Solomon qualified over 400 meters for the World Championships in London and was eliminated there with 46.27 s in the lead . In April 2018 he finished seventh in the 400 meter final in 45.64 s at the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast . With the Australian 4-by-400-meter relay, he was disqualified in the run-up.

Solomon was the Australian 400-meter champion in 2011 and 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017.
