Stráň is located on the left side of the Egergraben in the western foothills of the Duppau Mountains . The village lies on the northwest slope of Studenný vrch (569 m) above the valley of Nejdovský potok. In the northwest rises the Nástraha ( Koderichsberg , 481 m).

Neighboring towns are Ostrov and Liticov in the north, Mořičov in the northeast, Radošov in the east, Kyselka and Nová Kyselka in the southeast, Pulovice in the south, Všeborovice and Vysoká in the southwest, Bor and Nová Víska in the west and Ovčárna and Nejda in the northwest.

history

Elm was created at the intersection of two trade routes that led from the Duppauer Gebirge near Egerbrücken and Rodisfort over the Eger and to Schlackenwerth and across the Ore Mountains . The first courtyards were probably built at the transition from the 16th to the 17th century under Count Schlick . The first written mention of the village comes from 1785.

After the abolition of patrimonial Elm formed a political municipality in the Karlsbad district from 1850. In 1930 the community had 176 inhabitants. As a result of the Munich Agreement , Elm was annexed to the German Reich in 1938. In 1939 174 people lived in Elm. Until 1945 Elm was part of the German district of Karlsbad and came back to Czechoslovakia after the end of the Second World War. From 1946 to 1960 the municipality, which was renamed Stráň in 1948, belonged to the Okres Karlovy Vary-okolí. In 1961 the incorporation to Bor took place, at the same time the village came to Okres Karlovy Vary. On January 1st, 1976 Stráň was incorporated into Sadov together with Bor. In 1991 the place had 45 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 13 houses, in which 45 people lived again.
