The Streichkopf is a 2243 meter high mountain in the Rofan , a subgroup of the Brandenberg Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol . Like all mountains of the Rofan main ridge, the Streichkopf also appears as a dominant rock when viewed from the north, while from the south, with its grassy passages, it appears as a gently formed elevation, which, however, emits pronounced ridges to the northwest, east and south.
Surroundings
The striker head rises in the south-western area of the Rofan and forms a kink of the main ridge, which runs northwest-east here, at which the chain of the Dalfaz walls branches off to the south. Neighboring mountains in the northwest ridge are the 2169 meter high Stuhlböcklkopf and in the east the Hochiss , at 2299 meters the highest mountain of the Rofan. To the northeast, the terrain drops steeply down to the Mahrentalalm (1277 m) and to the west gently down to the alpine path crossing Kotalmsattel (1976 m) and on to Lake Achensee . The nearest town is Maurach am Achensee in the south, about 4 kilometers as the crow flies , and Steinberg am Rofan a good 6 km to the north .

Tourist development
Since the area was populated early due to its fertile soil and the mountains are easy to climb from the south, there are no records of first ascent. A dense network of hiking trails leads through the Rofan Mountains and the Streichkopf is easy to reach from the Erfurter Hütte , at 1,831 meters north above Maurach. The normal route (easiest ascent) leads as hiking route no. 413 first north towards Hochiss and then further west to the summit, partly over rugged terrain.
