Steinberg am Rofan is a municipality with 286 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Schwaz district in Tyrol ( Austria ).

geography

View towards Brandenberger Ache

Steinberg is a small, remote, scattered settlement on the Rofan Mountains . The village can be reached via a 10 km long road from Achenkirch (located in the Achental ).

There is probably only the cadastral community Steinberg am Rofan.

The community is located in the judicial district of Schwaz .

Neighboring communities

The neighboring communities are Achenkirch to the west and Eben am Achensee in the Schwaz district to the south . Brandenberg to the east and Kramsach and Münster in the Kufstein district to the south .

history

Already resident in the 8th century, the residents made a living from cattle breeding and logging for the Jenbacher Hüttenwerke and the Haller Saline . The wood was drifted down the stream to the Brandenberger Ache .
