history
The first information comes from the year 1398. At that time Schönbach belonged to the catchment area of the Lords of Riesenburg . In 1653 three farmers and 17 cottagers lived here , who grew grain, made roof shingles, wood and charcoal. In 1891 the first paved roads to Oberleutensdorf , Fleyh ("Butterweg"), Langewiese (Steinweg), Georgenthal and Göhren (Schmugglerweg) were built. These paths have now been opened up for hikers.
The German residents were expropriated and expelled in 1945 . In 1949 training facilities and houses for young families were built. The harsh living conditions in the mountain area were the reason for the slow growth of the population until the 1950s.
In 1956 the village of Šenbach was given its current name Meziboří. In 1960 the place was named a city. Today Meziboří is one of the cities in the Czech Republic with the lowest average age of the population.
