Braňany (German: Prohn , formerly Bran, Brani, Brany ) is a Czech community in Okres Most . It is located on a road from Most to Bílina , at an altitude of 251 meters, surrounded on both sides by hills of the Bohemian Central Uplands and the Ore Mountains .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1239 as the reign of Wolzik de Brani. At the beginning of the 14th century it belonged to Heinrich von Brany, Knight of Riesenburg . During the Hussite Wars , the property of the Lords of the Red Court was burned down. In the 17th century the village belonged to the Crusader rule Chanov . Later the village belonged to the lords of Teplitz . After the uprisings from 1618 to 1620, the village came under the Bohemian Crown and was gradually sold. After the establishment of the dual monarchy Austria-Hungary in 1867, the village was part of Cisleithanien , after the defeat of the Central Powers in the First World War it belonged to the Republic of German-Austria , but was subsequently added to the newly founded Czechoslovakia under the Treaty of Saint-Germain . In 1938, Prohn became part of the Reichsgau Sudetenland as part of the Munich Agreement . Most of the Czech residents fled to Kladno and Slaný . In the course of the Beneš decrees , the German population was expelled after the end of the Second World War and the area again fell to Czechoslovakia.
economy
Mining began in the 19th century and later the ceramic industry . In addition, gravel and sand were extracted. Agricultural production began after the First World War . Today, companies in the food industry, plastics industry, gas wholesalers and shoe and work clothing manufacturers are located in the village.
