Studzienna (German: Studen ) is a district of the city of Racibórz (Ratibor) in the powiat Raciborski (district of Ratibor) in the Silesian Voivodeship .

geography

Studzienna is located in the south of Racibórz. The Oder runs east .

history

The place originated in the 13th century at the latest and was first mentioned in a document on April 14, 1258. 1295–1305 he is recorded in the "Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis" ( tithe register of the diocese of Breslau) as "Stusona".

The spelling Studzina is documented for 1818 . In 1865 Studzienna was divided into "Studzienna-Herzoglich" and "Studzienna-Adolph". Originally both parts belonged to the princely rule, but the larger Studzienna-Adolph was given to the city of Ratibor. The ducal Studzienna had three farmers, two half-farmers, four gardeners and four cottagers . Studzienna-Adolph consisted of a manor and a village. The manor belonged to a Mr. Jarotzki who acquired it in 1819 from the Ratibor Treasury. In 1845 it was bought by the chief bailiff Adolph, who gave the place its name. The village community had two free estates , nine farm positions, five semi-farm positions, 19 gardener positions, 38 cottagers with fields and 22 cottagers without fields, and a school. There was a Barbara chapel nearby. In 1877 Nicolaus von Gröling built the neo-Gothic castle.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 689 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 462 for Poland. Studzienna remained with the German Empire . On January 1, 1927 the place was incorporated into Ratibor, before that the place was in the district of Ratibor . Later it was renamed “Studen”, which was renamed “Ratibor-Süd” in 1936. Until 1945 the place was in the urban district of Ratibor.

In 1945 the previously German town came under Polish administration and was renamed Studzienna and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship and in 1975 into the Katowice Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established powiat Raciborski and the new Silesian Voivodeship .

Culture

Studzienna has a strong German minority, which is the only one in the voivodeship to have a bilingual primary school (primary school no. 5) organized by the DFK local group. For the primary school there are regular services in German in the Kreuzkirche.
