Suryabinayak ( Nepali सूर्यविनायक ) is a city ( municipality ) in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal and belongs to the Kathmandu metropolitan area .

The city is located in the southeast of the district Bhaktapur , bordered to the north by the district capital Bhaktapur . It was created at the end of December 2014 through the merger of the Village Development Committees (VDCs) Chitpol , Kautunje , Nankhel and Sipadol . The urban area covers 24.5 km².

Residents

At the 2011 census, the VDCs that made up the city of Suryabinayak had 40,501 residents (20,021 of them male) in 9469 households.
