Sushant Singh Rajput ( Gujarati सुशांत सिंह राजपूत ; born January 21, 1986 in Patna , Bihar ; † June 14, 2020 in Mumbai , Maharashtra ) was an Indian actor and dancer .

life and career

youth

Rajput was born in Patna. There he attended St. Karen's High School . His mother died in 2002 and his family moved to Delhi . In New Delhi, Rajput attended the Kulachi Hansraj Model School . In 2003 he reached seventh place in the DCE entrance examination. He also got admission to the Bachelor of Engineering (mechanical engineering) at Delhi College of Engineering . After three years, he dropped out of college to become an actor.

Acting career

Rajput had his first role in the Indian soap opera Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil , where he played a supporting role from 2008 to 2010. From 2009 to 2011 he played the main role in the television series Pavitra Rishta .

In 2013 he played the lead role in his first feature film Dried Dreams . For his role he received the Star Screen Award for Most Promising Newcomer and the Filmfare Award for Best Debut . In 2016 he played cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the film MS Dhoni: The Untold Story .

In 2018 he was cast in the male lead of the Indian film adaptation of the novel Fate is a Lousy Traitor by John Green. The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters on May 8, 2020, but has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic . It will be his last film appearance.

In 2019 he starred in the Netflix movie Drive .

death

Rajput suffered from severe depression. On June 14, 2020, he was found dead in his home in Mumbai; he had committed suicide .

His death caused horror among colleagues who shared their condolences on social media. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote "I am shocked by his death". His rise in the entertainment world has inspired many ".

On June 16, 2020, a 15-year-old woman in Port Blair who was a fan of Rajput also committed suicide due to his death.

On June 24th, 2020, the 15-year-old Siya Kakkar , who had about two million followers with her presentations on TikTok and Instagram , celebrated u. a. also suicide due to the death of Rajputs in New Delhi .

Private life

Rajput was in a relationship with actress Ankita Lokhande from 2010 to 2016.

In addition to acting, Rajput was actively involved in various aid programs. Rajput was a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan .
