from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Svaba Ortak (born November 12, 1992 in Vienna , Austria ; civil Pavle Komatina ) is an Austrian rapper and hip-hop musician from Vienna.

Life

The son of a Bosnian Croat and a Serb from Montenegro grew up in Vienna's third district, Wien-Landstrasse . He adapted his stage name Svaba Ortak together with his friend from the Yugoslav film Rane (German title: The Wounds ) from 1998. Svaba is one of the main characters there. His buddy, who also wanted to be a rapper, took the name of the other main character Pinki. Svaba Ortak wrote his first rap lines and published tracks on YouTube while still at school . At first he took the upper level in the graphic arts , but then found no job in this area. He kept himself afloat with small jobs.

Svaba Ortak has made a name for itself in the Viennese rapeseed scene since 2011. Especially as part of the Eastblok collective, he became known to a wider audience. The Eastblok Family is an amalgamation of twelve MCs , producers and dancers. Svaba Ortak is also part of the Ortak collective, which also includes Manijak Ortak and Pinki D. Ortak . Several mix tapes followed , which built his reputation on the scene. After the mixtape Kaldrma he moved to Frankfurt am Main , Germany for a short time . He then brought out the Enter Tha Dragon EP, which was able to place itself at number 41 in the Austrian charts. Svaba Ortak collaborated in Germany with well-known artists such as Olexesh , Schwesta Ewa , the 187 Strassenbande and above all Haze . Shortly afterwards I returned to Vienna.

In 2018, Svaba Ortak made a name for itself with highly frequented appearances in the opening act of RAF Camora's concert in the Marx-Halle and at the Danube Island Festival . In 2019 he released his debut album Eva & Adam , which was released on March 29, 2019 via Sony Music . This contains guest contributions from RAF Camora, Amar , Pirelli and Droogieboyz . Some of the titles on Eva & Adam , which he produced together with Doni Balkan and PMC Eastblok , are reminiscent of the Beogradski sindikat records . This is primarily due to the harmonious embedding of traditional, Serbian folklore elements. The album release show took place on April 12, 2019 in SimmCity in Vienna. The album reached number 4 in the Austrian charts.

Music genre

Svaba Ortak uses many elements of Serbian music, especially in the beats, but various folk elements are also placed under the songs. So he used a sample from Đorđije Koprivica's folk song Jelena on his last album . Ortak also learned the Serbian long-necked lute Gusle , which was used on the album. Musically it is a mixture of G-funk , modern trap and ethnic beats with the help of Autotune , whereby he attaches importance to having used Autotune only for his ballads. The texts are mostly personal and tell of growing up in Vienna as a guest worker child.
