Sven Hauge

Sven Aage Hauge (born December 29, 1923 in Oslo ; † May 31, 1997 ) was a Norwegian General of the Air Force (Luftforsvaret) , who was last from 1982 to 1984 Commander in Chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces (Forsvarssjef) .

Life

Hauge joined the armed forces (Forsvaret) after attending school and initially completed a military pilot training course at Little Norway . In 1949 he became a naval officer of the Navy (Kongelige Norske Marine) and later graduated from the College of the Armed Forces FHS (Forsvarets høgskole) . In 1970 he moved to the air force as a colonel and was initially head of the intelligence service in the high command and in 1975 chief of the intelligence service. After his promotion to major general in 1977, he became chief of operations staff in the High Command of the Armed Forces and after his promotion to Lieutenant General (Generalløytnant) between 1978 and 1982 he was Chief of Staff of the High Command of the Armed Forces.

On July 1, 1982 General Hauge succeeded General Sverre B. Hamre as Commander in Chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces (Forsvarssjef) and held this post until June 30, 1984, after which General Fredrik Bull-Hansen became his successor on July 1, 1984. From 1984 until his retirement in 1990 he was director of Forsvarets bygningstjeneste , the authority responsible for managing the property and real estate of the armed forces.
