Commander in Chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Commander in Chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces ( Norwegian Forsvarssjefen ) is the highest ranking officer in the Norwegian Armed Forces and adviser to the Norwegian government on military matters. As such, he implements the guidelines set by the Norwegian king and the government. The post was created in 1940 and the current Commander in Chief has been Admiral Haakon Bruun-Hanssen since the end of 2013 .

Formally, the commander- in -chief is subordinate to the king, who also has the rank of general or admiral , but this has no effect in practice.
