The shell of the ship was completed in 2004 by the De Hoop shipyard in Heusden under construction number 384. The interior work was then carried out by the Scheepstimmerbedrijf Da-Capo in Hardinxveld-Giessendam . The construction costs were 12 million euros. The christening took place on April 2nd, 2004 in Wiesbaden. Godmother was Eva Herman . Until 2009, Swiss Corona had a charter contract with Transocean Tours Touristik GmbH . After the company's insolvency, the contract with a successor company was not renewed. Since then, the ship has been used by various providers for river cruises and as a hotel ship.
Equipment and technology
The Swiss Corona is a four- deck cabin ship of the 4-star category with 73 double cabins and three three-bed cabins that are 14–19 m² in size. The cabins are air-conditioned and each equipped with a shower, toilet, television, telephone and safe. The cabins on the upper deck have a French balcony . The 20 cabins for the 36-person crew are located in the rear area of the lower deck. In addition to the entrance hall with reception, ship boutique and excursion office on the upper deck in the front central nave, there is the panorama salon with bar. Aft is the Lido bar with outdoor terrace. The panorama restaurant is on the main deck. In the wellness area on the lower deck, passengers can use a sauna, a solarium and a steam bath. The sun deck is equipped with a whirlpool, sun loungers and seating groups that can be protected by means of quarter-spherical sun sails. The main and upper decks are connected by an elevator.

The ship is powered by two diesel engines Caterpillar 3508 B á 783 kW via two counter-rotating rudder propellers, the ship also has a bow thruster Veth-Jet of the type 2-K-1000 , which is driven by a 220 kW electric motor. The on-board power supply is provided by two Caterpillar 3406C diesel generators and a John Deere 4045TF 158 emergency generator . The ship is 110 m long, 11.40 m wide and has a height above water of 6 m. The maximum draft is given as 1.65 m. By lowering the wheelhouse, as well as moving the railings and the awnings, the height can be reduced for trips on bodies of water with low bridges, such as the Moselle and Main-Danube Canal . The ship has a 100 cubic meter fuel tank.
