TransOcean Kreuzfahrten was a brand name of South Quay Travel & Leisure Ltd., which also sells the brands Cruise & Maritime Voyages and CMV Signature River Cruises, with headquarters in Offenbach am Main. The company is part of CMV Holdings London Ltd. and carries over 80,000 passengers a year. They can choose between the Astor , the Magellan and the Columbus for ocean voyages . The Bellefleur , Bellejour , Belvedere and Sans Souci are available on the rivers . The group operates tour operators in England, America, Australia and Germany.
history
Transocean Passenger Service D. Oltmann & Co. was founded on January 19, 1954 in Bremen and was active in the liner service in passenger shipping. The company was involved in the field of emigrant passengers. Due to the emerging competing air traffic, Transocean was one of the first to develop cruises. At first she only chartered and sold partial contingents of the ships, the ships were soon taken under full charter. Furthermore, Transocean maintained a travel agency with DER and IATA representatives and from 1965 also operated the catering on the seaside resort ship Roland von Bremen , which operated between Bremerhaven and Helgoland .
In the early 1980s, Transocean was an agent for various shipping companies and organized sea voyages. The company was now called Transocean Tours . For the first time, winter cruises were also offered. In addition, the Transocean began in 1981/82 with the river navigation, by taking over the Moldavia and the Odessa . With the new river boats Swiss Coral (1998), Swiss Crown (2000), Swiss Corona (2004) and Bellevue (2006), the charter fleet was expanded to include new destinations in this area. There were also offers on the rivers of Russia , China and France with further ships . In the cruise sector, the Astor has been operating with Transocean since April 1997. In the years 2002 to 2010, the Astoria was also used in this area . Since 2006 the Arielle has also been chartered, which was replaced by the Marco Polo in 2008 .
At the beginning of September 2009 the company had to file for bankruptcy due to impending liquidity problems. The financial distress was partly caused by the cancellation of the world tour in 2008 due to damage to the Astor's drive shaft . On December 1, 2009 the company was taken over by Premicon AG, the name and corporate form changed to Transocean Kreuzfahrten GmbH & Co KG . In the period that followed, however, Premicon was looking for a strategic partner, as it did not want to assume the dual role of organizer and ship owner in the long term. At the beginning of 2014 it was announced that Transocean would be continued as a brand of the British company Cruise & Maritime Voyages . In this context, CMV will take over the charter contracts of the Astor and the four Transocean river vessels. In contrast to the newly founded CMV USA and CMV Australia in 2011 and 2013, CMV was able to fall back on an established brand when entering the German market.
The British operator Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) has been behind the name TransOcean Kreuzfahrten since 2013. In addition to the Astor , the company also operates three other ocean-going vessels in predominantly foreign markets: the Marco Polo , the Astoria and the Magellan . CMV has its headquarters in London, but has been represented in Germany by the subsidiary Global Bereederung since 2013.
In November 2019, CMV announced the purchase of Pacific Aria , which should be used on the German market as Ida Pfeiffer from 2021 .
On July 20, 2020, Cruise & Maritime Voyages filed for bankruptcy.
