Ayokunle Olatunji "TJ" Fatinikun (born July 28, 1991 in Lagos , Nigeria ) is an American American football and arena football player. He played two seasons each on the position of the defensive end in the Arena Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL).

Career

Fatinikun played college football at the University of Toledo for the Toledo Rockets in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) from 2009 to 2012 . In his first season, he was able to achieve twenty tackles in eleven games. In 2010 he put 51 tackles in thirteen games, all of which he played from the start. In 2011 he was able to achieve 23 tackles in the first six games before injuring his elbow. In both 2010 and 2011, Fatinikun was named 3rd Team All-MAC. Also in 2012 his season ended prematurely after his Achilles tendon tore in the fifth game. Fatinikun then applied for a fifth season of eligibility within the NCAA. This is usually only awarded if a player misses more than seventy percent of the games within a season for medical reasons. Fatinikun did not achieve this value, but the justification for the request was that 2011 and 2012 together were missed more than one season. The request was rejected.

After college, he received an invitation from the Kansas City Chiefs to attend a rookie mini-camp. However, he received no contract and then played in the Arena Football League for the teams from Portland and Orlando. In August 2014, however, he signed an NFL team for the first time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . He was released from the Buccaneers on August 29, 2014, but reassigned to the Practice Squad on September 24, 2014 . On October 21, 2014, Fatinikun was promoted to the active squad. On October 6, 2015, Fatinikun was placed on the Injured Reserve List by the Buccaneers . At the end of the 2016 season , he received trial training with the New Orleans Saints to apply for a contract for the 2017 season .
