Aksam Unia Oświęcim is an ice hockey club from Oświęcim , Poland , which participates in the country's top division, the Ekstraliga .

history

The club was founded in 1946. Between 1958 and 1999 the club was called KS Unia Oświęcim before it was renamed Dwory SSA Unia Oświęcim . Between 2006 and 2009 the club operated under Towarzystwo Hokejowe Unia Oświęcim , before it was renamed again to Aksam Unia Oświęcim due to a name sponsor .

Between 1987 and 2008, the club's first team played continuously in the top division of Poland and was able to become Polish champions seven times in a row . In 2008, the club rose to the second division, the I league , and a year later, as champions of this league, managed to gain direct promotion.

The club's second team currently plays in the I league.

Home ground

The ice rink MOSiR ( Polish : Hala Lodowa MOSiR ) in Oświęcim can hold up to 3,500 spectators, including 3,450 seats and 50 VIP seats. It was built in 1968.
