criticism

In August 2013, Mariusz Max Kolonko , a well-known journalist from the US Polonia , started a protest campaign on his YouTube channel to break up the TV channel TVP Polonia. He justified his decision by claiming that TVP Polonia's TV program does not meet the basic expectations of Poles living abroad, but that it costs taxpayers a lot of money. A particular problem is the lack of access to current information from Poland, which is so important for Polonia, and the repeated excess of uninterested program recipients. Another conflict exists between TVP and the Canadian company "Spanski Enterprises Inc." on TVP Polonia's exclusive broadcasting rights in the USA. The circumstances turned out to be very unfavorable for the Polish side, so that he brought debt capital for the Canadian company on the basis of tax money. Many Poles who live in the USA are forced to use cable TV and Internet TV and therefore only receive TVP Polonia in encrypted form in foreign pay-TV buyers . As an alternative to the public TVP Polonia, Kolonko proposes an Internet channel free of charge for viewers, which would be financed with the Polish taxpayers' money that would become free due to the dissolution of TVP Polonia. Kolonko's thesis received widespread approval from Polish television viewers, who were able to vote in favor of it with their signature on the TV station's website.

The idea of dissolving TVP Polonia was criticized by TVP spokesman Jacek Rakowiecki. He stated that Kolonko's appeal was insulting and was being used to force the government grants paid to TVP for the international broadcaster for his idea of an internet channel. Kolonko inflated himself to be a "licensed" representative of the worldwide Polonia, which would be unacceptable.
