Taimuras Wasnojewitsch Tigijew ( Russian Таймураз Вазноевич Тигиев ; born January 15, 1982 in Ordzhonikidze ) is a Kazakh freestyle wrestler of Ossetian origin, who starts in the class up to 96 kg (heavyweight) for Kazakhstan . His younger brother Soslan Tigiyev starts as a freestyle wrestler for Uzbekistan .

Tigiyev first appeared in 2001 when he was second at the World Cup in Baltimore after losing to the Iranian Alireza Heidari in the final . In the same year he was third in the Junior World Championship in Tashkent . At the World Wrestling Championships 2003 in New York he came in 14th, at the Asian Games in 2006 in Doha , he won the bronze medal.

doping

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , he came to the 2nd place on the podium after the final defeat against the Russian Shirvani Muradov . In extensive follow-up tests in 2016, his doping sample was retested using improved methods and a positive result was found. He was then disqualified by the IOC, and his silver medal stripped .
