Tamir Hendelman

Tamir Hendelman (* 1971 ) is an Israeli American jazz musician ( piano , arrangement , composition ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Hendelman had piano lessons in Tel Aviv when he was six; when he was twelve he moved to the United States with his family. At the age of 14 he won the Yamaha National Keyboard Competition, which was followed by concerts in Japan and at the Kennedy Center . From 1988 he studied at the Tanglewood Institute ; In 1993 he received his bachelor's degree in composition from the Eastman School of Music . He was initially active as musical director of the Lovewell Institute , a non-profit music education institution; In 1996 he returned to Los Angeles to work as a studio musician (pianist and arranger). In 1999 he was a guest soloist with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra.

In 2000 Hendelman became a member of the Jeff Hamilton Trio, for which he also arranged and undertook numerous tours worldwide. From 2001 he also played in the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra ; he also toured with Tierney Sutton and the Bill Holman Big Band. He also worked with Julia Migenes ( Alter Ego ), Roberta Gambarini ( Easy to Love ), Jackie Ryan ( You and the Night and the Music ), Janis Mann ( A Perfect Time ) and Natalie Cole ( Still Unforgettable ). In 2008 he released his debut album Playground (Swing Bros). With the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra he can also be heard on recordings by John Pizzarelli , Gladys Knight and Diana Krall . In the field of jazz he was involved in 57 recording sessions between 1997 and 2017, also with Andreas Öberg , Greta Matassa , Sandra Booker , Richard Galliano and Paul McCartney ("Only Our Hearts").
