The Tarnon is a river in France that runs in the Lozère department in the Occitanie region . It rises in the Cevennes National Park on the Aire de la Côte hill about 4 kilometers east of Mont Aigoual in the municipality of Bassurels on the border with the neighboring Gard department . The Tarnon generally drains in a northerly direction, separating the Causse Méjean plateau from the Cevennes and, after 39 kilometers, flows into the Tarn as a left tributary in the municipality of Florac .
