Chaos is the 441st episode of the crime series Tatort from 2000. The film was produced by Swiss television under the direction of Christof Schertenleib and first broadcast on April 9, 2000.

Chaos researcher Professor Kannell, after several female deaths, is the target of the investigation by the Bernese murder commission "Leib und Leben".

action

The fascination of gambling - which arithmetic rules determine luck / chance? This is what Professor Simon Kannell is concerned with in his research and this is what he teaches in his lectures. Then the student Melanie Richter collapses in the lecture hall. Detective sergeant of Burg's boss Eva Schwab has been "forever friends with the student's mother" and instructs him to carry out an autopsy after her death. The student was poisoned by a death cap mushroom .

Professor Kannell has a psychotherapy session and says he'd love to be in love again. Practice assistant Jana Lehmann secretly listens to the session, smiles and adores him. But she's not the only one ... Late in the evening she appears at his book premiere for “4 x 22”, ponders the checksums and the number of windows in the vernissage building and finds access to the unfortunate Regula Kannell. Meanwhile, Kannell has fun with Miriam Capitani, who has long left him unambiguous messages. However, the togetherness is interrupted by a call from daughter Luisa Capitani.

At Kannell's house, the drunken landlady tries to give in to a whim in the presence of Jana Lehmann and crawl into the dishwasher. She shouldn't have done that because Jana recognizes the situation and includes her. After an intimate night of love, Kannell returns home and initially does not pay attention to the dishwasher. In front of his house he meets von Burg who wants to teach him about the love letters from the dead student. Regula Kannell is finally found - suffocated in the dishwasher.

Kannell's secretary can only say good things about her boss and reports that his wife is very dissatisfied. Kannell himself will speak about this at the next therapeutic session, which will of course be monitored by Jana Lehmann. While listening to the tape, she realizes with horror that Kannell spent the night in question with someone else. Lehmann's suspicions fall on Kannell's secretary, who is now in great danger. A short time later, Ms. Reuter is found drowned in the Aare.

Jana Lehmann poses as Kannell's lawyer and visits him in custody. She would make every sacrifice for him and hands him an envelope with plane tickets to the city of love. After Kannell's reaction, she realizes that, despite her apparently so great empathy, she was wrong about people. Under a pretext, she gets into Kannell's office and checks his records. It doesn't take long and she is on the trail of Miriam and Luisa Capitani, who both promptly kidnapped them and held them captive in the building of the vernissage. The big birthday party with Simon Kannell is to take place there. von Burg and Gertsch continue to feel completely in the dark until the emotional chaos solves the case by itself.
