occupation

The time has come is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The contribution produced by the MDR was broadcast on April 5, 2020 on Das Erste . In this 1127th crime scene episode, the Dresden investigators are investigating their ninth case.

action

The young parents Anna and Louis Bürger want to get a better grip on their lives. Louis spent three years in prison for a robbery. When her neighbor, the traffic policeman Jan Landrock, is found dead in front of the house, the Dresden police officers Karin Gorniak and Leonie Winkler investigate. The murder weapon is apparently the baseball bat of Tim, the 12-year-old son of Anna and Louis. There are Louis fingerprints on it. The inspectors arrest him and question him. Louis protests that he has nothing to do with the murder.

Anna releases Louis from pre-trial detention when he is hospitalized for a self-inflicted injury. When they want to pick Tim up from a children's home, the police surround the house. The two take the leader and a youth hostage.

The police found a video in Anna's email that Jan Landrock had received from Anna's sister-in-law Lilly Schanski. It shows Louis selling a stolen scooter. Since he is only on parole, he would have to be returned to prison if reported. The police bring Holger and Lilly Schanski to the location of the hostage-taking. Chief Detective Schnabel asks Lilly and Holger about the video.

Inspector Winkler tries to save two more girls who are in the house. She meets Anna and Louis. Together with Tim, the two can escape through a supply tunnel.

During the interrogation by Schnabel, Holger Schanski admits that Landrock broke his neck in an argument with him in a fall. Holger and Lilly later hit the dead man on the head with a baseball bat to simulate a robbery by Louis. Lilly wanted Tim to live with them again as a foster son.

The police stop Louis and Anna and Tim on their way to the Czech border. Gorniak is able to dissuade Louis from committing suicide: Tim needs him as a father, even if he has to go back to prison.

background

The film was shot from July 16 to August 14, 2019, among other places on the Elbe Cycle Path in Dresden, a prefabricated building on Herzberger Straße in Prohlis , on the Waldschlößchenbrücke , at a gas station in Großenhain-Zschauitz and in a former children's home in Moritzburg .

reception

The first broadcast of The Time Has Come on April 5, 2020 was seen by 9.57 million viewers in Germany and achieved a market share of 25.7% for Das Erste .

The television review was very cautious about the episode. Rainer Tittelbach judged the production very benevolently, calling Stephan Lacants “congenial” and Katia Fellin a “discovery”. However, for example, the Siegener newspaper headlined “Investigator team without momentum”, felt a “counterexample” for tension and the story, despite many possibilities, fizzled out “into a stiff film”; however, she also singled out Katia Fellin as an actor alongside Max Riemelt .

Theresa Hein, like others , struggled with the script for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and identified somewhat ironically, “as if one had desperately looked for something that unites the characters, (as) a star in this crime scene: (the) sweat. […] In the end, ”she concluded,“ you wonder a little what the time has actually come for. ”And the Stuttgarter Zeitung titled Michael Setzer's article“ Strong team effort ”, but he too only forgave the logic of the script a "grade 3".

After all, Christian Buß only gave “4 out of 10 points” in the Spiegel magazine and summed up very much like Hein: “In the end we are a little exhausted from this crime thriller. It's not up to the actors. They do their best, sweat blood and water - and yet are doomed to roar past each other in the labyrinthine plot. "
