The Taubensee is a small karst lake and a natural monument in the municipality of Ramsau near Berchtesgaden . After him is Taubensee , a Gnotschaft or a district named this community.
geography
The lake lies at an altitude of 873 m and drains in the southeast via the Egelgraben and the Lattenbach to the Ramsauer Ache . It is 230 meters long (north-south) and up to 150 meters wide. The area is just under three hectares . It is located 70 meters south of the B 305 , which is part of the German Alpine Road (local street name Alpenstraße ), at the pass crossing at the Schwarzbachwacht (Wachterl), the transition from Ramsau to Schneizlreuth . The parking lot at the pass is the starting point for a hiking trail to and around the lake. To the south, Alte Reichenhaller Straße (Kreisstraße BGL 14 ) leads past the lake. The lake cannot be seen from the streets because it is surrounded by old trees.
The Taubensee is a terminal moraine lake of the Würm moraine. It is marshy in the edge areas and characterized by peaty loose rock. The lake is fed by underground springs at the bottom of the lake; its water level fluctuates greatly. The lake is privately owned and almost entirely surrounded by a high, wide-meshed game fence . Direct access to the bank is not possible. The lake and especially its extensive silting zone is a retreat for endangered animal and plant species.
At the southeastern end of the lake, the owner has built a wooden pier , about five by five meters in size , which also serves as a sun terrace and which can be reached from the shore via an eight-meter long jetty.
The Taubensee has been designated as an important geotope (geotope number: 172R010) and natural monument by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment .
