The brook rises 1.4 km south of Rožnov ( Rosenau ) (municipality Český Rudolec ( Böhmisch Rudoletz )) in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands , flows generally south through the reservoir vodní nádrž Landštejn below the castle Landštejn and further through Staré Město pod Landštejnem ( old town ) in the Česká Canada Nature Park , crosses north of Groß-Taxen (municipality of Kautzen ) to Lower Austria and, shortly before its confluence with the Deutsche Thaya , takes in the Schwarzbach coming from the west .
