The Tembentschi ( Russian Тембенчи ) is a 571 km long, right-hand or northwestern tributary of the Kochetschum in the Putorana Mountains , the northwest part of the Central Siberian Mountains , in the north of the Russian region of Krasnoyarsk .
course
The Tembentschi arises in the southern part of the Putorana Mountains about 320 km southeast of Norilsk . East of the 1215 m high Dlinnajah , the highest table mountain in the Promyslowy Mountains , it flows from a small mountain lake at an altitude of almost 1000 m ; east of the lake rise the Ojogongda mountains up to 1179 m high .
First the river runs in a southerly direction through a trough valley with steep flanks before it gradually turns to the southeast. It maintains this direction of flow through the Sywermaplateau (extensive mountainous southern foothills ) up to its mouth, whereby it runs, increasingly in wide river loops , through a narrow valley.
In the upper reaches it crosses several elongated lakes, the largest of which is the Tembentschisee (also Lower Tembentschisee ), which is 381 m above sea level, is around 45 km long and covers an area of 86.8 km² .
The Tembentschi flows about 41 km as the crow flies north-northwest of the Tura settlement (administrative center of the former Evenk Autonomous Okrug ) at an altitude of about 145 m into the Kochetschum , which flows into the Lower Tunguska about 60 kilometers below .
Tributaries and catchment areas
The many tributaries of the Tembentschi, whose catchment area is around 21,600 km², include a large number of smaller rivers, often up to several tens of kilometers in length, such as the right-hand Alik and the largest tributary, the Itschen, which flows into the upper middle reaches from the left .
Hydrology, hydrography and ice drift
The mean annual discharge 89 km above the mouth is 252.73 m³ / s with a minimum monthly average of 4.12 m³ / s in April and 1,616.17 m³ / s in June. The river is covered in ice from October to May or June . When the region's permafrost thaws in summer and ice and snow melt, strong floods often occur , which in May and June result in around 60% of the annual runoff; the flood gradually subsides by September. The period November to April only accounts for 5 to 6% of the runoff.
Near the mouth, the Tembentschi is almost 200 m wide, but 1.5 m deep; the flow velocity there is 0.8 m / s.
Use and infrastructure
Since the Tembentschi flows through a virtually unpopulated area, it is not used for inland navigation. There is a lack of permanently inhabited localities on the river, and accordingly no transport infrastructure.
