Teray Smith (born September 28, 1994 in Freeport ) is a Bahamian athlete who competes in the sprint disciplines .

Athletic career

Teray Smith gained his first international experience at the 2010 CARIFTA Games in George Town , where he was eliminated in the first round over 100 and 200 meters. In 2012 he won the bronze medal in the 200 meters and gold with the Bahamian 4 x 100 meter relay at the CARIFTA Games in Devonshire . He then won the gold medal in the 100-meter run and silver with the relay at the Pan American Junior Championships in San Salvador . He reached the final over 200 meters, but did not compete there again. He then took part in the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , where he finished seventh over 200 meters and sixth in the relay. In addition, he was eliminated over 100 meters with 10.44 s in the semifinals.

In 2013 he won the CARIFTA Games in Nassau over 200 meters and took sixth place over 100 meters. In 2014 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for the first time and was eliminated there in the semi-finals over 200 meters. In addition, he finished fifth with the Bahamian relay in 39.16 s. In 2015 he retired with the relay in the preliminary round of the Pan American Games in Toronto . He then finished sixth over 200 meters and eighth with the relay at the NACAC championships in San José . At the World Championships in Beijing , he retired over 200 meters with 20.91 s in the first round , as well as with the 4 x 100 meter relay in 38.96 s.

In 2016 he qualified over 200 meters for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated with 20.66 seconds in the fourth heat . Also at the World Championships in London he was eliminated over 200 meters in 20.77 s in the preliminary round , as well as with the relay . In 2018 he again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast , where he reached the semi-finals over 200 meters and won the silver medal behind Botswana in 3: 01.92 minutes with the 4 x 400 meter table.

He is a student at Auburn University in Alabama .
