Terence McGovern

Terence Sean McGovern (born May 11, 1942 in Berkeley , California ) is an American actor , voice actor , radio host and drama teacher.

Career

McGovern studied acting with Stella Adler and Milton Katselas . From 1956 to 1969 he worked for KDKA -Radio and KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh and went to KSFO in San Francisco in the summer of 1969 .

At the age of 30, the film actor traveled to Los Angeles to continue his career in acting. He began his film career with George Lucas , starting with a small role in his first film, THX 1138 . While filming THX 1138 , McGovern coincidentally created the word Wookiee : One day he told George Lucas that he had just run over a “Wookie”. Lucas took up the fantasy word for Star Wars, spontaneously improvised by McGovern . Lucas and McGovern continued their collaboration in the 1970s on the classics American Graffiti and Star Wars . He played the supporting role of the young high school teacher Mr. Wolf in American Graffiti and delivered various voiceovers for several personalities of the empire on Star Wars .

In 1993, McGovern appeared in the comedy Mrs. Doubtfire - The Prickly Nanny , here he played a voiceover director who argues with Robin Williams ' main character during the opening scene . He made similar small appearances in other film and television productions, but as Jim Coyle in the CBS sitcom Charlie & Co. in 1985 he had a slightly larger role. In addition, he was involved in hundreds of television and radio spots as a speaker. As a voice actor, he is still active for various television series and video games (including Star Wars games). For example, he lent his voice to the pilot Launchpad McQuack in 57 episodes in the series DuckTales - News from Duckburg . McGovern is also active as a teacher of voice roles, leading many workshops and teaching at the University of San Francisco .

He was elected to the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame in 2008 for his longstanding radio work . He has hosted the weekend morning show on Boss Boss Radio since 2012 .

He was born in a Berkeley hospital to Roger and Phyllis McGovern . His father was an actor and copywriter. McGovern is married to Molly McGovern and has two children with her.
