Ana Teresa Correia da Cunha Tavares de Matos (born December 29, 1982 in Azambuja ) is a Portuguese actress .

Life

Teresa Tavares studied at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema theater and film school and also took a number of courses, including a. with Howard Sonnenklar , Meg Stuart and João Canijo . In 2000 she appeared on stage for the first time as a professional actress , in O Cão Alucinado at the Inestética Companhia Teatral. Her role as Sofia in the telenovela Jardins Proibidos the television channel TVI earned her first fame. A number of other television roles followed, and she has also appeared in Portuguese cinema since then. Among them was the female lead in Star Crossed , an adaptation of the well-known Romeo and Juliet drama set in today's professional football milieu . Her appearance in Werner Schroeter 's last film This Night (2008), in Fernando Lopes ' late work Os Sorrisos do Destino (2009), and in João Canijo's multi-award-winning film Sangue do Meu Sangue (2011) should also be mentioned.

In addition to many theater engagements, she has also appeared in front of the camera for numerous short films. In May 2013 she presented the short film Minha Alma and You , in which she starred, at the Cannes International Film Festival 2013 , where it was screened in the short film competition.
