Terry Kilburn

Terrance "Terry" Kilburn (born November 25, 1926 in London ) is a British actor who began his career as a child star.

Life

Terry Kilburn was born in London in 1926 as the son of a bus driver . As a young boy, he began to imitate famous actors and performed with them on small stages. Ralph Richardson's agent certified Kilburn's talent and recommended that his parents give it a try in Hollywood, which is why he moved to the United States with his mother in 1937 (his father followed suit the following year). After they almost ran out of money, he got a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1938 for a supporting role in Lord Jeff alongside Freddie Bartholomew . That same year he made his breakthrough as Tiny Tim in the Christmas film A Christmas Carol . A year later he played in Sam Wood's teacher drama Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939) the pupil John Colley and his descendants Peter Colley I, Peter Colley II and Peter Colley III, who played the title character Mr. Chips, played by Robert Donat , taught over the years. Also in 1939 he played the clever house boy Billy in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes alongside Basil Rathbone in the title role . In 1944, Kilburn also appeared alongside Mickey Rooney and Elizabeth Taylor in MGM's Little Girl, Big Heart .

After graduating from high school , Kilburn studied drama at the University of California LA and turned his attention to theater. In the 1950s he was seen in a number of television series and has now appeared as Terrance Kilburn on New York Broadway , including in the comedy Charley's Aunt . Although he still appeared sporadically in films, such as a small role in Stanley Kubrick's Lolita from 1962, he devoted himself more and more to the theater. From 1970 until his retirement in 1994 he was director, actor and artistic director of the to Oakland University associated Meadowbrook Theater in Rochester , Michigan .

Charles Nolte

He lived with his partner, the actor Charles Nolte, for more than 50 years until Nolte died in January 2010. Kilburn now lives in Minneapolis , Minnesota .
