Teun Buijs (born February 24, 1960 in Oostzaan ) is a Dutch volleyball coach and former national player.

Career

Buijs began his career as a player at the age of fourteen with his home VV Compaen. In the 1980s he was part of Brother Martinus Amstelveen's successful team . In addition to six national championships, he was three times third in the European Cup . With the Dutch national team , for which he completed a total of 321 games, he took part in the 1988 Olympic tournament in Seoul and achieved fifth place by beating Sweden. In the domestic league he also played for Noliko Maaseik and VV Zaanstad .

In 1991 he became a trainer. At VV Zaanstad , he looked after the female offspring, which included his daughter Anne Buijs . For four years he worked for the Dutch association as assistant to the women's national coach Avital Selinger and coach of the youth national team. He later moved to Switzerland and led Lausanne VC to the runner-up. In 2009 he was signed by the German Bundesliga promoted RWE Volleys Bottrop . With the Bottropern he came in the 2010/11 season in the playoffs and the semi-finals of the DVV Cup . He then moved to the women's Bundesliga for the reigning German champions Schweriner SC . There he again trained his daughter Anne, who came to Schwerin at the same time as her father. Buijs led the club to the German Championship and the DVV Cup victory in 2012 and 2013 . In 2013/14 he worked for the top Polish team Trefl Sopot and in 2014/15 in Azerbaijan for Lokomotiv Baku . After Buijs had coached the Dutch men's second division club Prima Donna Kaas VV Huizen in 2016/17 , he moved back to the German women's Bundesliga at USC Münster in 2017 .
