history
The village was first mentioned on May 18, 876. A moated castle once stood southwest of the church near the confluence of the Rheinbach and Rohrbach. The castle belonged to the Lords of Teutleben, who were mentioned in a document in the 12th century. Remnants of the tower can still be seen today. It is a high moth (tower hill castle) with preserved tower remains.
In the 16th century, the place belonged to the Hardisleben manor , which became the Hardisleben office in 1585 . This belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Weimar until 1603 , from 1603 to 1672 to the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg , from 1672 to 1741 again to Saxony-Weimar and from 1741 to the Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach . The locations of the Hardisleben office came to the Buttstädt office in 1817 , which was opened in the Apolda administrative district of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach in 1850 .
In 1974 Teutleben merged with the neighboring village of Eßleben to form the municipality of Eßleben-Teutleben, which was merged into the rural municipality of Buttstädt on January 1, 2019.
