Tex Morton (guitarist)

Tex Morton (* 1961 in Emden as Peter Hajunga ) is a German musician who is mainly known as a guitarist .

Life

The musician, who was born in Emden, came to Osnabrück at the age of eleven . According to his own statements, in addition to the saxophone, he learned the instruments guitar, electric bass and drums mainly self-taught.

At a small Hamburg rock 'n' roll record label, he released his first solo single under his real name as a teenager, entitled Honey Sticks On The Guitar . After that, on the advice of a friend, he decided on the stage name Tex Morton. He first played in the hardcore punk band “Delirium” and then founded the band “Tex Morton & The Jet Sets” with friends, with whom he also appeared as the opening act for The Undertones and Link Wray .

The producer and DAF manager Robert "Tijuana" Giddens, better known as Bob Giddens , became aware of him and accepted him into his band Surplus Stock . Since then he has been and is active in numerous bands and music projects. Among other things, he produced the storm damage album Vergessenes Land in 1992 . In 1992 he released the solo LP Shanty Town on Strange Ways Records . The samplers The Ship (1992) and The Ship 2 (1993) were released on the same label, each with a song on them. He has lived in Berlin since 1995 . In the Osnabrück magazine of August 2011 he was mentioned as "the German Keith Richards ".
